Benjamin Ethal, also known as The Coroner, is a character created by Isaac Tessman and the main antagonist in the Nightfall franchise.
The Legacy of Ethal[]
Appearance[]
Ethal is of average height and is very skinny. Under the guise of The Coroner, he wears a latex rubber mask of a balding old man along with a black windbreaker with the word "CORONER" written on it, as a real coroner would wear. Under this he wears black slacks and a grey button shirt. During the game's climax, he is seen wearing a grey business suit to mimic Gabe's. While in sleep paralysis, Gabe sees Ethal's face distorted and demonic. He also has three small, barely noticeable scars on his forehead from a dog attack as a young child.
Personality[]
Due to the death of his daughter, Ethal is often depressed and on edge. He constantly seems like he is going to snap and go insane at any moment.
Relationships to Other Characters[]
- Gabe Landis: Ethal seems to hold a grudge against Gabe for unknown reasons, and he feels like Gabe is only trying to ruin anything he does. When Gabe accidentally kills Tesslar, he absolutely hates him.
- Guy Tesslar: Guy Tesslar was a friend of Ethal's when they both went to the same college. When Tesslar is accidentally killed by Gabe Landis, Ethal is enraged and wants Gabe dead, no matter what the cost.
Abilities[]
While not possessing any defined fighting skills or metahuman abilities, he has a vast array of medical and chemical knowledge, allowing him to mass produce a drug that will put people into sleep paralysis.
Trivia[]
- While being the central antagonist of two games, he is never directly fought, and he isn't the final boss of either.
